Graduation 2021

By Jennie Ponce Gutierrez

As the school year comes to an end, all schools start to prepare for their annual graduation amid the hopefully waning pandemic. This year, East will have an in-person graduation ceremony at the Resch Center across from Lambeau Field, home to the Green Bay Packers.

The graduation ceremony will have some modifications to accommodate each guest and keep everyone COVID-19 safe. Graduates will be seated six feet apart, meaning most students can be in the main bowl while others will be in the general seating area.

Graduates will each have four tickets to distribute, which will be handled through Ticketmaster.

Unfortunately, the East band will not be present during the ceremony but will be broadcasting pre-recorded performances.

The staff honor guard will also not be attending due to the distancing restrictions.

All other graduation festivities will be occurring but can change as restrictions are lifted.

“Hang in there because everything will get better today,” said school principal Lori Frerk. “Life has never been easy, and these last 12 months have certainly challenged all of us. Stay strong in your beliefs, and continue to work to achieve your dreams and aspirations.”

The end of a chapter is upon the class of 2020-21, and the East community considers itself fortunate to have a graduation ceremony in person as a farewell to graduates.
