Crime Trend Update

By Carolina Ayvar

Daniel Younk, the SRO at East high school, recently spoke about the crime trends in the East area and at East high school.

Crime rate in the East area has been the same for the past couple years, according to Younk.

“Crime rate in the East area is pretty much the same throughout the city and county. Green Bay is a pretty safe city,” Younk said

Authorities have received calls for accidents, animal related incidents, damage to property, disturbance, robbery, suspicious person/site/vehicle, traffic stops, trespassing, warrants, welfare checks and other minor incidents.

At East high school there also is drug use and fights, but these are rare, Younk said.

There have also been thefts. Cell phones were reported as stolen, and there was one case of a stolen bike.

In other words, there shouldn’t be much concern if people are taking care of their belongings, explains Younk.

There are no real patterns of crime, he said.

“When it comes to crime trends at East high school, it’s basically the same as every other high school, it’s not better or worse,” Younk said.

In Younk’s opinion, the East area is pretty safe, and East is a pretty good school.
